Santa Monica College Selects Regent Enterprise
Frederick, MD – September 9,
2008 – Regent Education, the leading provider of financial
aid management Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions for higher education
institutions, today announced that Santa Monica College (SMC) has selected
Regent Enterprise as its financial aid management solution.
Previously, SMC used a solution provided by the Department of Education
to process their financial aid. The software pulled on IT resources and
inhibited SMC from tracking important data. Additionally, few of the key
areas within the financial aid process were automated, resulting in
numerous hours of manual processing and reliance on IT staff to create
custom reports.
Santa Monica selected Regent Enterprise for its
automation and flexibility. Regent Enterprise’s fully configurable
workflow process will make SMC’s financial aid process easier to
execute and will decrease the time required to process, distribute, track,
and verify award letters, as well as provide accountability for tasks.
Regent’s SaaS solution will also provide SMC with automatic state
and federal updates, easing the burden on IT staff and helping to ensure
compliance.
“Santa Monica College is looking forward to
its collaboration with Regent,” said Steve Myrow, Santa
Monica’s Associate Dean of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
“Regent’s comprehensive financial aid management system will
help us manage the 16,000 to 17,000 federal aid applications that we
receive each year—and better serve our students.”
Santa Monica College is a two-year community college accredited by the
Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Located in Santa Monica, CA,
SMC opened in 1929 with just 153 students. It has now grown to a thriving
campus with approximately 31,000 students, offering more than 80 fields of
study. SMC is the number one transfer college to UCLA, USC, the University
of California system, and Loyola Marymount University. SMC has an academic
reputation as one of the best community colleges in the nation, offering
top professional training programs in nursing, computer technology, new
media, early childhood education, graphic design and many more. Santa
Monica has a roster of distinguished alumni in virtually every profession,
including actor Dustin Hoffman, astronaut Walter Cunningham, Appellate
Judge Miriam Vogel, NFL player Isaac Bruce and California Governor, Arnold
Schwarzenegger.
“Santa Monica College has a very large
student enrollment that is growing each year, and the Regent solution
enables the institution’s key financial aid personnel to focus on
the student versus back office manual processing,” said Michael
Ratti, Regent’s CEO. “Regent will give Santa Monica’s
financial aid office the tools it needs to help meet its enrollment and
student access goals.”
